About the Authoress

I am a young writer who wholeheartedly believes in the power of the written word.
I'm obsessed with quotes, I get a thrill out of slowly turning the pages of our huge dictionary and discovering new words, and I enjoy witty banter (in books, movies, and real life).
I've been writing since the age of five and I finished my first decent short story when I was seven.  My dad used to read Beowulf to me and my sister when we were very young.  He also used to tell us stories when we'd go on walks down the dirt road near our house.
My family recently adopted two homeless chocolate lab puppies, in addition to two other dogs and a few cats we've had for several years.  I think cats are smarter and cleaner, but dogs have the adorable factor on their side.
For some reason most things I fear begin with the letter s:  Sharks, Scorpions, Snakes, getting Stuck in an elevator.  The latter finally happened last semester while I was riding to the second floor where my British Literature class was.  I was late.  I hate elevators.  But I still think it would be amazing if they invented one of those elevators that doesn't just go up and down but side to side like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
I'm the gratefully adopted daughter of the King, saved only by His grace.  I believe Jesus is the only way to Heaven.  I don't like when people define their beliefs by their denomination.  I might go to a Baptist church, but I am a Christian.
I love traveling internationally and exploring different cultures.  I've been to Scotland, the Netherlands, Mexico, and East Asia-and I wouldn't hesitate before going back to any of those places.
In addition to writing, I am also a student, an artist, and an English language tutor for international students.
I don't understand racism or prejudice, but everyone seems to have some reason to hate a certain group of people.
I love to read, listen to music, and I could watch movies all day.  I'm also a huge fan of the BBC show Merlin, which I recently discovered thanks to one of my writing buddies.
Ingrid Harper isn't a real person but a pen name because pen names are fun.
